“Failures” was a research project in which performers use a stream-of-consciousness acting technique to interpret the text of New York writer Kristen Kosmas in conversation with their surroundings. Working from an abridged version of her 2008 play “HELLO FAILURE,” which follows a support group for lonely submariners wives, they mine the audience, themselves and each other for spur-of-the-moment mental choreographies. “Failures” is designed to adapt to any location without rehearsal and use no technical elements, creating a “reading” of the play that looks a little like living, or dancing, or something in between. It culminated in workshop presentation at two studio spaces in Toronto.
